Euro 2020 Quarter Final 3 – Czech Republic v Denmark

The second set of QFs start all the way east in Baku.

Czech Republic

Tyn Church & Old Town Square, Prague, Christmas 2003

I have been to Prague nine times, on my own, with friends, with my parents, with a touring jazz band, for business meetings (mixed with leisure) and of course with Mrs Wilbur.

I have arrived by train (from Budapest), by coach (from London once and Devon once) and by plane. If memory serves me right, visits took place in 1992, 1993, 1995, 1996, 2001, 2003, 2007 and 2019 x 2.

I have loved my visits, though in 2007 I was perturbed by the crowds somewhat, hence the twelve year gap to my next visit. Prague is full of so many jewels and I would say it is just about my favourite city in Europe.

Old Town Square is my favourite spot with its amazing astronomical clock, whilst a walk from there across Charles Bridge into the Lesser Town and up to the castle area is one of my favourite city centre walks.

Denmark

F.C. Copenhagen v Manchester City, UEFA Cup Match
F.C. Copenhagen v Manchester City, UEFA Cup Match

I have visited the Danish capital five times, twice arriving by train, twice on business trips and once for a football match/weekend break. The football match was actually played in one of the Euro 2020 venues.

The football match was in January 2009 and was played in a snow storm in parts. It finished 2-2 and both times City scored, an exuberant fan leapt into the netting that separated us from the pitch to celebrate!

Score prediction – Czech Republic 1 Denmark 2
