Euro 24 Match Day 18 – Portugal v France

Two more heavyweights go head to head for a semi-final spot. Portugal Capital Lisbon has some amazing bridges. 25 de Abril Bridge in the capital is a suspension bridge across to the municipality of Almada on the left bank of the Tagus river. It was completed in 1966, whilst a train platform was added in […]

Euro 24 Match Day 16 – France v Belgium

This is the first heavyweight knockout clash between Mbappe’s France & De Bruyne’s Belgium. Euro 24 Match Day 8 – France v Netherlands

France France is my most visited country. A) I love it there and B) it is so easy to get to for me. Our first post Covid foreign trip was to Nancy. Euro 24 Match Day 4 – Austria v France

Austria Amazing cities & breathtaking countryside, Austria has much going for it. Salzburg is amongst my favourite cities anywhere in Europe. Add to that the Mozart sites (he was born and raised in Salzburg) and the settings for […]

Monday Morning Blues – Marseille Old Port in France

Marseille is France’s third biggest city, situated on the south coast close to Provence. We travelled by direct train from London a few years ago and had a wonderful time.

What have you got, Toulouse?

Quite a lot actually. The Southern French city on the River Garonne is a delightful place stuffed full of striking architecture, appealing al fresco cafes & restaurants and well-presented independent shops. I stayed there recently for two nights sandwiched either side of a trip to Andorra, and spent a very pleasant few hours strolling around […]

Monday Morning Blues – Andorre l’Hospitalet Train Station in France

I have just got back from a lovely short trip to Toulouse & Andorra. L’Hospitalet station is just over 2-hours from Toulouse and as close to Andorra as you can get by train (a taxi to Andorra la Vella costs €90 each way).

Monday Morning Blues – Painting of the Church at Auvers, Musée d’Orsay, Paris

The Church at Auvers, a painting by Van Gogh hanging in the Musee d’Orsay, Paris

Sunday Photo – Mont-Saint-Michel, France

I visited the mount on the Brittany-Normandy border on a baking hot June day in 2015. We had our small dog with us and avoiding the feet of hundreds of visitors was quite a challenge! It’s a great place to visit, steeped in history and affording some great views of the surrounding countryside.
