24-Hours in Innsbruck

Just a 90-minute flight from Gatwick, Innsbruck is perfect for a whistle stop break. with the centre only 20 minutes away on airport bus F (€2.80), travel time is really minimal.

Surrounded by the Alps, the small city is not quite as beautiful as Salzburg in my opinion but there is plenty to wow you during your stay.

Head to the top of Innsbruck by mountain train & cable car for stunning views and to satisfy your snow craving. A round trip is included in the great value 24-hour pass costing €53. See PASS for details.

Also included are Swarovski Crystal Worlds, Imperial Palace, the wonderful Court Church, Alpine Zoo (nothing to write home about but fun for kids), City Tower with great views, Bergisel stadium & ski jump and Ambras Castle. Public transport is also thrown in for good measure.

Other sights worth seeing are the Jesuit & Hospital Churches and the golden roofed Goldenes Dachl. The best bit is just to wander the compact old town fuelled by coffee & cake!

I plan to return at Christmas to then take the train to magical Salzburg.
