My last major pre-pandemic trip was in October 2019 when I took a train from the Georgian capital of Tbilisi to the Azerbaijani equivalent on the shores of the Caspian Sea.
The overnight train started in the darkness in Tbilisi and saw us waking to the oil fields and industrial heartland of the former Soviet.
How was your train journey? Did you see anything worth writing about? How long was it? Any food or drink you got? I would love to hear all about it, I wanted to go in 2022, made it to Tbilisi and chickened out

All good but much of the journey was at night. We arrived about an hour late but we were well stocked with food from a Georgian supermarket.
