Euro 2020 Match Day 12 – Scotland v Croatia

Scotland have home advantage as the game takes place at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Both teams can qualify so the atmosphere should be charged.

Two years ago we visited Glasgow for a friend’s special birthday.

We did the tourist stuff – Kelvingrove Gallery, Mackintosh Tearooms etc., but also took a train out of the city to Balloch on Loch Lomond.

The loch is one of Scotland’s natural treasures and a group of us took a boat trip out to its depths. The weather behaved sufficiently enough to give us a very pleasant experience even though it was a tad blustery.

I spent a day in the Croat capital in 2015 ahead of an overnight train journey to Split.

Without being spectacular, Zagreb is a very agreeable place to visit with some impressive buildings, sizeable squares and a relaxed traffic-free street stacked with coffee shops & cafes.

Zipping around on a modern tram is a great way to explore the city. There is a grand national theatre and a fine Gothic cathedral, which was unfortunately damaged in a 2020 earthquake.

Score prediction – I am going for a 1-1 draw that would unfortunately eliminate both nations.
