To Russia with love you the Swedes & Slovaks for the first game of the day in St Petersburg.
Stockholm is situated on a series of islands, with the central one called Gamla Stan which contains most of the impressive buildings.
The first time I went was in 1989 on an inter-rail trip. The prices were eye watering for somebody in their early twenties and so my diet mainly consisted of rich tea biscuits!
We actually attended a World Cup qualifier between Sweden & England. The game ended 0-0 and is well known as the game when England’s Terry Butcher cut his head leading to his white shirt being soaked in blood.
Bratislava is on the mighty Danube and last time I went there I took a boat back to Vienna with Mrs Wilbur.
We had arrived by train from Vienna, but the journey back was extra special as we sped along with the wind in our hair.
