BLACK & WHITE 5 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 4

Today I head to one of Europe’s most exciting cities for the challenge – Amsterdam. Getting lost in the labyrinth of canals is one of the great pleasures of visiting the Dutch city. Just be careful where you wander if you are easily offended! There are only two rules for this challenge: 1. On 5 […]

BLACK & WHITE 5 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 3

Today for my challenge I have chosen Iceland as my muse. I travelled there in January to share my 50th birthday with Mrs Wilbur, some whales (had gone fishing) and the Northern Lights (switched off). Read my account of what was still a wonderful trip despite the no shows, on my blog post Get Yourself […]

BLACK & WHITE 5 DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 2

Continuing my challenge set by the lovely Gypsy Woman, my second go comes from my favourite European travel country, namely Spain. Black & White 5 Day Challenge: Day 1

I have accepted the challenge from a very interesting lady known as gypsy woman. You can follow her excellent blog by clicking pommepal. The challenge is to find one of your colour photographs and transform it into black & white to see what effect it has. I love ships & boats, so I thought that […]

The vessel in the middle is a Foxtrot class submarine. I clambered aboard and with just a few tourists it felt cramped, so […]

Stari Grad, Sarajevo

Ancient features of the Bosnian capital’s Old Town.

Rural Moldova

I visited Moldova, Europe’s poorest country in monetary terms, in 2011. It was a brilliant experience and my favourite part was getting into the countryside to see farming carried out the old traditional way. Here are a few pictures – you will be able to read more about the journey in my forthcoming book.

Flagging In Eastern Europe

These are some of my favourite flags that I have taken during my European travels. Do you recognise them? A clue – they are all from countries that will be featured in my forthcoming book.

Travels In Eastern Europe

Exciting news! I made the deal to publish my new book last night so should be on for the spring. It will be an approximately 300 page paperback and an e-book. Now time to crack on with final editing, cover design, picture selection etc. I will keep the website posted with progress and also post […]
