I have accepted the challenge from a very interesting lady known as gypsy woman. You can follow her excellent blog by clicking pommepal.
The challenge is to find one of your colour photographs and transform it into black & white to see what effect it has.
I love ships & boats, so I thought that I would start with this as a subject.
In March 2010 I travelled to Copenhagen in the snow and found myself drawn to wonderful Nyhavn (‘translates as New Harbour’), a colourful area choc full of vessels of all sizes and comfy coffee shops from which to view them in.
I have always liked the colour picture that I have chosen and was delighted to see that it still retained interest as a black & white one.
What do you think?
Copenhagen is in my top ten ‘underrated cities’ click here to read about the rest.
There are only two rules for this challenge:
1. On 5 consecutive days, create a post using either a past or recent photo in B&W.
2. Each day invite another blog friend to join in the fun.
Today I would like to nominate Madhu of ‘Theurgetowander’ to join in. Of course this is only if you have the time and want to.
Madhu has a wonderful site which I am sure you will enjoy.
Can’t wait to see what Madhu comes up with. Yes, I like it in B & W too, but then, I’m another boat lover. 🙂
I agree with Madhu – both pictures are nice 🙂 nice post Wilbur!
Love them both, but I think the B&W works better too.Thank you for the nomination Wilbur. Let me see what I can come up with…
I agree with Pauline – without the distraction of the colour in the buildings, we focus more on the boats. If you don’t usually create monochrome shots, find images that have strong shapes, lines, contrast and texture…..
Love it Wilbur it looks good in both formats but I think the b&w brings the boats more into focus.
