Tuesday Train – Narita in Japan

Mention Japanese trains and most people will immediately think of high speed Shinkansen/bullet trains. However there is also a vast network of suburban trains, slower inter-city versions & street cars throughout the nation. We stayed at Narita Town before our flight home and I captured the airport train below framed by vivid cherry blossom this […]

Tuesday Train – Thailand to Laos

Back in 2010 I took an overnight train from Bangkok in Laos. We crossed the Peace & Fruendship Bridge between Thailand and Laos before alighting in a new country. From there it was a 30-minute tuk tuk ride into Vientiane.

Tuesday Train – Aleppo to Latakia, Syria

Life On The Road Cuba Style

Cadillacs, Chevrolets, Fords, Plymouths, Mercurys and Lincolns too. Think of Cuba and Havana or Trinidad in particular and you will probably think of classic American cars. Euro 24 Match Day 13 – Czech Republic v Turkey

The winners of this will undoubtedly qualify for the knock out phase. Czech Republic In the mid 90s I did a train side trip to Terezin from Prague. The WWII concentration camp was extremely harrowing to see & read about. It was mainly occupied by intellectuals & artists and their families. Children were encouraged to […]

Tuesday Train – Haydarpasa Station in Istanbul

Back in 2009 trains from the Asian side of Istanbul ran eastwards towards the Middle East. This is where we took the Dogu Express to Ankara before continuing on to Aleppo in Syria. Outside the station stood an old restored engine on some railway tracks, overlooking the Bosporus shipping. The station itself was a real […]

Tuesday Train – Moldovan Locomotive in Chisinău
