The winners of this will undoubtedly qualify for the knock out phase.
Czech Republic
In the mid 90s I did a train side trip to Terezin from Prague.
The WWII concentration camp was extremely harrowing to see & read about.
It was mainly occupied by intellectuals & artists and their families.
Children were encouraged to draw so that the Nazis could claim Terezin as a happy camp. I viewed a display of their drawings, each one showing below how old they were when they perished. Generally aged 4 – 11.
The International Red Cross inspected twice and gave a positive report both times. The Nazis had arranged concerts and sporting events to coincide with the inspections.
Horrid.

Turkey
I count my train trips east across Turkey en route to Syria & Georgia as two of my most memorable travel experiences.
