Moldova

Said to be the poorest country in Europe, Moldova is a fascinating country to visit.

It’s capital Chisinău is somewhat short of attractions but get out into the countryside and there are lovely wine regions, fascinating monasteries and a rural way of life that has hardly changed in centuries.

I travelled there in 2011, arriving by train from Bucharest and departing on a train to Odesa.
