Euro 2020 Match Day 14 – Denmark v Wales

So now it starts to get really serious as we reach the last 16 and the knockout stages. Lose and you are going home! The Danes and Welsh get the fun underway in Amsterdam.

Denmark

Øresund Bridge
Øresund Bridge

The Øresund Bridge is the longest combined road and rail bridge in Europe.

Its length is almost 8 kilometres from the Swedish coast to the artificial island Peberholm in the middle of the strait. The crossing is completed by the 4-kilometre Drogden Tunnel from Peberholm to the Danish island of Amager.

It effectively connects Copenhagen with Malmö. Costing €2.6 billion it opened in July 2000 to great fanfare, giving unrestricted travel from Denmark to Sweden.

Sadly the migrant crisis and security concerns have added bureaucracy and hassle in making the journey between the countries, but it is still well worth the effort.

Wales

Pembroke, Wales

I have waxed lyrical on many occasions about the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast in South Wales.

It is beautiful in the sunshine and brooding in the rain. The seaside town of Tenby is also very nice, especially its colourful harbour. Here are a few pictures.
