Euro 2020 Match Day 6 – Italy v Switzerland

More connected nations pit their wits against each other in the final match of the day in Rome.

Italy

Verona Amphitheatre

A few years ago we undertook a train tour of Italy & Switzerland.

One of the journeys was Venice to Verona where we stayed one night.

An interesting compact city on the river Adige, Italy’s second longest after the Po.

Shakespeare set Romeo & Juliet in the city and for those inclined to do so you can go and see Juliet’s balcony (allegedly!).

I have vowed to return one day to take in an open air opera at the amphitheatre.

On the same tour we took the Bernina Express from Tirano on the border to Chur and then back to St Moritz.

A tad touristic but the scenery was truly stunning. I always refer to Switzerland as God’s train set!

Later in the trip we took another iconic train, the Glacier Express from Zermatt to Zurich. More fabulous landscapes through the train window.
