A-Z April Challenge – J is for Jerash in Jordan

Jerash, Jordan

In our 2005 trip to Jordan we arranged a taxi to Jordan’s finest Roman City, Gerasa, now known as Jerash.

The journey saw us driving on the amazing Desert Highway, a boy racer’s dream if ever I saw one!

Jerash has fine examples of an amphitheatre, a nymphaeum, aqueduct and numerous Corinthian columns.  Without doubt however, its finest preserved structure is the oval forum surrounded by stunning colonnade.

We stayed for over two hours and for me this was at the time my finest ever Roman ruins ever seen, eclipsing Baalbek in Lebanon.

    1. Thanks Iain. I seem to be having problems leaving comments on your posts. I feel your pain on Brexit. The only country ever to Impose economic sanctions on itself!
