Beirut – A Scarred City

The explosion at the port of Beirut and the terrible aftermath is painful to watch.

A city and its people that suffered so much in the bloody civil war of the ’80s are in anguish once more. It never rains but it pours – economic hardship, Covid 19 and now this awful avoidable tragedy.

I had the privilege to visit the country in 2000, just a decade since the war ended. We had an amazing time courtesy of the wonderfully hospitable people.

I have shared a few pictures below and I would urge you if you can to donate to the Red Cross Beirut Appeal. The innocent people need all the help they can get right now.
