A-Z April Challenge – Kennedy Space Center, Cape Canaveral

In 1999 I found myself in Orlando in Florida whilst working within the cruise industry.

I had a meeting with a now defunct cruise line based in Cape Canaveral, so decided to go and see some rockets whilst there.

Since December 1968, Kennedy Space Center has been NASA’s primary launch centre of human spaceflight. Launch operations for the likes of the Apollo, Skylab and Space Shuttle programs were all carried out from the vast complex measure 144,000 acres.

We visited Mission Control for the 1968 Apollo mission, took a bus tour around the complex, got up close to some huge rockets and clambered inside some lunar vehicles.

All great fun!
