In Central European folklore, Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure described as “half-goat, half-demon”, who, during the Christmas season, punishes children who have misbehaved. This contrasts with Saint Nicholas, who rewards the well-behaved with gifts.

Sunday Photo – The Bangkok to Laos Train, Vientiane Outskirts (Thanaleng)
We travelled by overnight train from Bangkok in February 2010. The train goes over the First Thai-Lao Friendship Bridge to the outskirts of Laos capital Vientiane at a place called Thanaleng. From there it is a 20km tuk tuk ride into the city. Magic memories!
