Monday Morning Blues – Port Olimpic, Barcelona

Barcelona waterfront was redeveloped for the 1992 Olympics, an area that I first stayed by in 2000 on our honeymoon. It is an area choc full of lovely fish restaurants and a scattering of pricey hotels. The hop on hop off buses also head there. Well worth a stop to walk barefoot in the sand […]

I took this picture from Gaudi’s Parc Guell whilst on honeymoon in 2000. The Port Olimpic was where they held the sailing events in the 1996 Olympics. One of the two towers you can see (on the right) is the fabulous Hotel Arts where we stayed for the first night of our honeymoon.

Happy Birthday easyJet

“Do I not like orange”, so said former England football manager Graham Taylor following a controversial and harrowing defeat at the hands of the orange clad Dutch in late 1993. Two years later the orange airline was born, 25-years ago yesterday in fact. They started out as an irritant to the established flag carriers and […]

2015 ends, 2016 beckons……

2015 has been a pretty good travel year for me. It started as you would expect in January when I went to Iceland to celebrate my 50th birthday. We did not manage to see the Northern Lights, but had a fabulous time in a Winter Wonderland of waterfalls, hot springs, glaciers, unusual churches and loads […]

My Top Three Spanish Cities

Number Three – Granada So good that in the UK they named a Commercial TV Station, a Motorway Service Station and an Electrical Appliance Store Chain after it! Seriously, Granada is all you have probably heard it to be cracked up to be, and then some more. From the simply stunning ‘Wonder of the Modern […]

MY TOP TWELVE SPANISH CITIES – NUMBER ONE

Before revealing my number one city in Spain, let me first explain that I have not yet visited Bilbao or Salamanca or San Sebastian or Merida or Segovia. They all look fabulous in their own right, so even if my number one will be tough to dislodge, I am sure my top twelve could change […]

Barcelona

I am off to Barcelona tomorrow to indulge in another passion of mine, namely football. Come on City! I will then have been to the magnificent Catalan city ten times (one honeymoon, four business trips, three city breaks and two football matches), so I thought I would post a few pictures from the different trips […]

Wilbur Arrival By Train, Yerevan, Armenia From Batumi, Georgia

2014 Gone, 2015 Beckons…..

2014 The year started slowly travel wise, with my efforts and finances channeled into arranging my 49th Birthday Party at Exeter City FC and visiting Wembley to watch my Manchester City lift the Capital One Cup. City were to give me my first travel experience of the year however, when I took Mrs. Wilbur to […]
