Euro 24 Match Day 9 – Georgia v Czech Republic

Georgia

Tbilisi is one of my favourite capital cities in Europe.

It’s a great blend of old (historic quarter, Arabic bathhouses, ancient tea houses) and modern (cable car, unusual bridges).

The feel is vibrant – cuisine is cheap & tasty, the local red wine gorgeous and the music scene jumping.

Mother of Georgia stands atop one hill overlooking her home city, the orthodox cathedral stares back from another.

Czechia Republic (Czechia)

I fell in love with Prague the moment I set eyes on the beautiful Bohemian capital in 1992.

I have been back many times since and have seen it change from a post-Communist city with crumbling (yet stunning) architecture, food rationing and accommodation exclusively booked through state run agency Cedok, to a cosmopolitan destination full of tourists.

Though I prefer the early 90s version with rattly old trams, pints of beer costing 10 pence/15 cents and sparse numbers of visitors, I still adore the modern version. The grand masterpiece still evokes incredible feelings of location love.

Here are a few pictures from down the years.
