Hosts Germany kick things off today against Scotland.
Germany
I visited the fairytale like Neuschwanstein castle in Bavaria around 20 years ago.
We drove from Munich through a snowstorm. Tricky conditions but a magical backdrop for the castle and a chance for some good natured snowball fights!
Scotland
Scotland is a beautiful country with picturesque mountains & lochs, attractive towns and charming islands stocked with wildlife.
It is also where JK Rowling wrote much of the Harry Potter books, famously scribbling away at Edinburgh’s Elephant Cafe.
The Glenfinnan Viaduct forms part of the Jacobite Line from Fort William to Mallaig, a route traversed by the Jacobite steam train throughout the warmer months.
It was also used in the Potter films as the trainline to Hogwarts. Having crossed the viaduct four times before on the train, in 2022 I clambered to a wet & muddy viewpoint to witness the Jacobite crossing it.
