Congratulations to Argentina on becoming World Champions of football.!

It must have been quite an experience in the capital yesterday as the national side won the final on penalties. Football is so, so more than just a sport in South America’s second largest country.

I had a wonderful visit there in November 2018 and took this picture of the offices of the Argentine president. Sited on Plaza de Mayo, it is most iconic for Eva Peron’s iconic speeches to the adoring masses delivered from the building’s balcony.

I fully expect to see some footballers on that same balcony some day very soon.
