Etihad Stadium Home Of Manchester City FC
It as travelling to football matches by train in the UK in the early 1980’s that first got me hooked on travel.
I was following my beloved Manchester City – back then my team fluctuated between being quite good to poor to very poor, a far cry to today’s extremely successful version.
Originally the Commonwealth Games Stadium (the athletics was held here in 2002), it was redeveloped for football and renamed the City of Manchester Stadium when City moved there in 2003.
It is now known as the Etihad Stadium on account of the club’s main sponsors.
Pre-covid I continued to visit Manchester up to ten times a year for matches, often in the Champions League. Her are some pictures from my visits.

I have also published a book about my time following Manchester City, which is available from Amazon.

Magnificent stadium. You will be old enough to remember when Man City weren’t even in the top division. Times have changed!

You are so right. I have followed them since the 70s and experienced many lows.
