There are a number of annual events that you should try to experience at least once.

The Rio Carnival, a cricket test match in Melbourne, the Monaco Grand Prix or St Patrick’s Day in Dublin perhaps.

One such event is seeing in the new year (Hogmanay as it is known up there) in the Scottish capital.

I was lucky enough to do this a few years ago and although I probably won’t go again, I am very glad to have experienced the frivolities once.
