Friday Photo – Split, Croatia

My brother and his partner are currently in Croatia, a country that has seen a rapid spike in Covid cases.

The U.K. has now imposed a 14-day quarantine for returnees from 4am Saturday.

After failing in their attempts to get a bus to Ljubljana or Budapest (both Slovenia & Hungary not allowing entry from Croatia) to fly back from the Hungarian capital or Venice, they have now decided to stay put, but will need to quarantine when they get back.

That’s the chance you take at the moment. Happily Split is a lovely place to be.

  1. Interesting, I was planning a trip to Slovenia and was wondering if there are any nearby smaller port-cities similar to Dubrovnik, but closer. Split, Zadar, Pula and Piran are on my radar. Do these have a similar historic buildings and atmosphere?

    1. Split is lovely waterfront UNESCO city. Piran v nice seaside town with a picturesque square (went last year from Ljubljana). Lake Bled is great with wonderful countryside nearby too. Bohinj Railway is a must. Not been to Pula or Zadar but both I hear are great to visit.

  2. Strange times.
Easyjet emailed me this week to advise that my flight to Palermo in September is cancelled and I can apply for a refund. To be honest I am happy about that!

    1. Whole of Europe and further afield will be in lockdown again soon as far as foreigners are concerned. We have just canned Rhodes in Sept as Greece will be on quarantine list soon. Changed flight to next June. Fingers crossed!
