Today is officially Africa Day.
According to the South African Government website, “Africa Day is intended to celebrate and acknowledge the successes of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU now the AU) from its creation in May 25, 1963 in the fight against colonialism and apartheid, as well as the progress that Africa has made, while reflecting upon the common challenges that the continent face in a global environment.”
I am almost ashamed to say that I have only ever been to three African mainland nations – Egypt, Morocco & South Africa – though I did come really close to going to Libya too before the troubles started there.
I have also been to the Indian Ocean island Mauritius which is considered part of the African continent alongside fellow island states Comoros & The Seychelles.
I would love to one day visit Namibia, Botswana, Tanzania & Ethiopia especially.
In the meantime here are a few pictures of my limited visits to the stunning continent.
