We visited the island settlement of Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy in June 2015.
Reached by a causeway, it is situated at the mouth of the Couesnon River near Avranches.
A fine place to visit, but beware of the crowds. It was baking hot on the day we travelled there and there were many bus loads of tourists. Early spring or autumn would perhaps be the best times to visit.
I visited in September 2015 and it was still very busy!
