A quintessentially English pastime is to watch cricket, hopefully on a lovely Summer’s day.
This week I travelled to the Ageas Bowl in Southampton to watch the Hampshire v Somerset county championship match.
The sun shone and wickets fell in regular fashion – I saw 16 fall in the day.
South African Kyle Abbott took seven of them and finished with match figures of 17 for 87, the best bowling figures since 1925!
The other quintessentially English thing is there is hardly anybody there to watch on midweek games.
