On my flight over to New York I watched the wonderful film ‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’.

It tells the story of how A.A. Milne, inspired by his son playing with his soft toys in Ashdown Forest in Sussex, wrote the classic Winnie the Pooh books.

A footnote at the end of the film’s credits stated that all but Roo of Christopher’s toys were now on display at New York Public Library.

In actual fact they have only just returned to display after going through a year long extensive clean and repair. After all, they are nearly 100 years old. You can read about the painstaking work by clicking on CLEAN POOH.

I was delighted to pay a visit to see the delightful creatures for myself.

The rest of the library is marvellous too, especially the huge Rose Reading Room on the top floor.
