Today’s photo was taken in July 2005 in Bonifacio on the French island of Corsica.

We had travelled to Olbia in Sardinia, flying out from Gatwick on the day of the London 7/7 bombings.

We had been totally unaware of the atrocities that had befallen the capital until we switched on our mobile phones to see the 35 messages between us.

Back to happier memories, we stayed on the beautiful Costa Smeralda, home of some of the bluest seas and picture perfect sandy beaches we had ever seen.

We decided to take the ferry across to Corsica one day and were rewarded with another lovely place and a choice of delectable fish restaurants to choose from.
