This photo was taken in snowy Nyhavn, Copenhagen in February 2009, where we were treated to a winter wonderland.
I had taken Mrs Wilbur for her first visit to Scandinavia on the understanding that she accompany me to the FC Copenhagen v Manchester City UEFA Cup match.
I had been to Copenhagen several times on inter-rail trips in ’89 & ’92 and a few work trips and had been slightly underwhelmed with the Danish capital.
This all changed with this visit when we had a brilliant time and both loved it.
Finally, the football ended 2-2 with a good proportion of the game played through a snow-blizzard.
The game was most memorable for me for the exuberant (and inebriated) City fan who leapt onto the safety net that we were positioned behind both times City scored!
I prefer the safety net on the boat!
Well spotted! One of City’s wayward shots went into that net too…
