Monday Morning Blues – The Longest Day, Stonehenge
For the second time in recent years I find myself travelling along the A303 on the day of the Summer Solstice. The A303 links the South East with the South West of England and as well as being infamous for traffic hold-ups, it is best known for being where Stonehenge is situated. ‘The Henge’ has […]
Monday Morning Blues – Cuban Revolutionaries, Santa Clara, Cuba
The picture shows a giant statue of Che Guevara at his mausoleum in Santa Clara and a billboard showing Fidel Castro and part of Guevara’s well known saying “¡Hasta la victoria siempre!” (“Until victory, always!”).
Monday Morning Blues – Sundowners Overlooking The Grand Canal In Venice
A very chilled memory to beat the blues this Monday morning.
Monday Morning Blues
This week’s Monday morning blues comes from my 2017 trip to Cuba. The waterfront stretch of Caribbean in Havana is known as the Malecon. The 8km long road is a perfect location for a drive in a classic American car, to Cuba what the gondola is to Venice (about $70 and very touristy!). Join us […]
Monday Morning Blues – The Indian Ocean At Dusk, Mauritius
I visited Mauritius in 2007 and took this at dusk from our hotel balcony. Wonderful memories! Join a few of us on Twitter @wilburstravels to post your inspiring pictures featuring the colour blue to help us all beat the Monday morning blues.
Monday Morning Blues – Uzbekistan Railways Engine in Bukhara
My something blue today is from my 2018 visit to glorious Uzbekistan. I photographed this beauty as I awaited the Afrosiyob to speed me to Samarkand. Join us over on Twitter to post a ‘blue’ image from your travels every Monday morning. @wilburstravels
Monday Morning Blues – Dancer With Attitude in Santiago de Cuba
Happy January 2017 memories for me for this week’s Monday Morning Blues. We visited the Carnival Museum in Cuba’s second city and were treated to a fabulous music & dance jamboree. This lady was a fabulous dancer whose expressions told a thousand stories. Why not join in the Monday morning fun over on Twitter? See […]
Monday Morning Blues
Belgrade sits on the confluence of two rivers – the Sava and the Danube. The Ada Bridge over the Sava opened in January 2012, causing much controversy due to the construction costs spiralling out of control. It is also known as the blue bridge due to the lighting effects that you can see below.
Monday Morning Blues – Skyros Island in Greece
Skyros is a small island in the Sporades group that includes the better known Skiathos, Alonnisos & Skopelos. More traditional and less touristy than its neighbours, it is beautiful with sandy Aegean beaches, aromatic pine forests and a picture postcard town of white buildings & winding cobbled alleys. In fact it is a perfect destination […]
