Euro 24 Rest Day Non-Qualifiers Part 1

Andorra

I went to the tiny country in 2019 using Toulouse in France as a base.

Armenia

I took a train to Yerevan from Georgia in 2015. We arrived on their Independence Day for a huge party.

Azerbaijan

Not technically in Europe but they entered the competition as UEFA members. I was there in 2019. The capital Baku has some stunning modern architecture.

Bosnia & Herzegovina

Capital Sarajevo is unfortunately remembered for the crippling siege during the Yugoslav war, as well as being the place that saw the start of WWI.

The city is great to visit today with an atmospheric old town where mosques, churches and synagogues are all located.

Bulgaria

I’m not a great fan of Sofia, however, a couple of hours on the train from the capital will get you to the delightful town of Veliko Tărnovo and the nearby fortress of Tsaravets.

Cyprus

I have only been to Cyprus once, way back in 2001 on a work trip.

The divided island has its ‘border’ known as the Green Line running through Nicosia. From several streets you can see both the Greek & Turkish flags flying.
