Visitors to Athens are always intrigued when they see the soldiers guarding the main parliament building off Syntagma Square.

Do not be fooled by the effeminate looking uniforms – these soldiers are amongst the elite with recruitment criteria the toughest in the Greek military.

  2. They only wear those white uniforms on Sundays and bank holidays, the rest of the time they wear khaki. There are 400 pleats in those kilts, one for each year of ottoman occupation.

  3. Where was the Fashion Police in the design of these uniforms?! Pom-poms on their shoes?!
