Angkor Wow

Visiting Angkor Wat has long been high on my bucket list and right now I am within touching distance.

However, before the main course it is wise to take in some appetisers and this is what we did today. I did actually glimpse the Big A W as we sped past in our tuk tuk, but soon averted my gaze, careful not to start the main course before we had even so much as sampled the hors d’oeuvres.

That will come tomorrow at dawn, today was for some of the ‘lesser’ temples – that each one of these constructions are a stunning example of man’s astonishing creativity in their own right has just left me salivating that little bit more in anticipation for what lies ahead. It’s a bit like spotting a family of cheetah the day before stumbling across some leopards.

For now, I have shared with you some pictures from Preah Khan, Preah Neak Poan, Ta Nei and Bat Chum.

  1. You have been to one of my bucket list locations for sure! Tell me was it crowded? It doesn’t look like it.

    1. Quantity was fine but the quality left a lot to be desired – will reveal more later.

  2. I am going to be interested in what you say because to be honest it has never really appealed to me but then neither has Macu Picu or the Great Wall of China. I know, I’m a Philistine!

  3. Great area, glad you’re having fun. Make sure you go to Beng Melea and Koh Ker. A bit off the beaten track but you’ll be glad to have made the effort.
